Walkthrought Metal Detector

PMD2, acronym for Programmable Metal Detector, is the most advanced CEIA application with an international patent of its own. It generates an electromagnetic scanning field for the detection of metallic weapons inside a monitored passage. Thanks to this technology, the PMD2 Metal Detector allows weapons to be accurately located on people in transit, considerably speeding up search operations.A “ height on person “ display actually indicates, by means of illuminated LED’s, the position of the weapon on the person. The location zones are not fixed, as in the case of Metal Detectors with multiple receiver-transmitter coils, but are variable and continuous so as to achieve optimum resolution.Use of the PMD2 ensures an extremely high level of discrimination of metal personal effects.PMD2 can be supplied, on request, with two emergency batteries that automatically come into operation in the event of a power failure.PMD2 is available in panel (PMD2/PTZ) or column (PMD2/ENZ) version. Also an outdoor column version, PMD2 / EWZ, is offered with an IP65 degree of protection.A photocell transit counter is available as an option. This will allow for statistical data to be accumulated on the persons passing through the detector. The detector’s control unit is incorporated into the structure. Access to programming is protected both by a mechanical lock and by two alphanumeric passwords. The PMD2 is manufactured using the most advanced electronics technology, conforming to ISO 9001 Quality Control Standard procedures.

The PD140SVR hand-held Metal Detector is a high-sensitivity device designed to detect magnetic and non-magnetic metal objects. The applications include detection of weapons, detonators and other small metal parts on people or in packages, luggage or correspondence. The bidirectional detection head allows detection of metal on both sides, upper and lower. The exclusive ergonomic shape ensures a secure grip, allowing rapid, thorough inspection operations with minimum discomfort for the persons being checked. The device is supplied with a standard sample for checking calibration. Specific test samples can be supplied in line with the Security Regulations in force.

The Metal Detector comprises a search head, a control unit, a telescopic pole and an elbow support all jointed together in a one-piece design. The detection head is light and the wiring is designed to be protected from any possible damage. The compact, highly-portable design allows immediate operational status and ease of transport. The
CEIA CMD incorporates a rapid battery charger
(3 hours max.) powered by an electrical mains adapter or via the cigar lighter socket found in vehicles.

Intentionally designed to be used easily and comfortably in every working condition, the
CEIA CMD can be set up for operation in less than twenty seconds. The equipment stands out due to its compact design, light weight, operational performance and reliability. The telescopic pole length can be adjusted for use when standing, kneeling or in the prone position.

CEIA CMD does not require any manual calibration; in addition, optimum sensitivity is ensured over all types of terrain due to CEIA's Exclusive Automatic Soil Compensation System. Localization of metal objects is optimized by an Acoustic Modulation pinpointing system aided by a Visual LED bar graph, which allows the position of the detected mass to be identified accurately. If desired, the led bar can be masked with a snapdown cover so as to avoid remote visibility (stealth operation).

The electronics unit is water-resistant and satisfied the most demanding environmental requirements. All the controls can easily be reached by the operator:

  • Volume adjustment
  • Sensivity adjustmentin
  • Built-in speaker
  • Main switch and spring actuated reset switch
  • Luminous bar indicator of signal intensity
  • Snap-down cover to mask the led bar indicator
  • Headphone connector - RS-232 interface

The dramatic events of 11th September 2001 caused the Airport Security Authorities to strengthen checks on passengers and their personal effects.
The extremely high discrimination capability of last-generation CEIA walk-through Metal Detectors, a certain percentage of shoes containing significant metal masses still cause alarms during transit, and so have to be examined by security staff with another inspection system - usually the X-ray scanner - to ensure that there are no meal weapons hidden in them. This obviously causes inconvenience to the passengers in transit.
The light of this new operational scenario, CEIA has developed the
SAMD Shoe Analyzer to check shoes worn by passengers without having to remove them, employing low-frequency electromagnetic fields which are non-ionizing and completely harmless.
SAMD Shoe Analyzer is an extension of the Walk Through Metal Detector Gate, which complies with the most recent, stringent security requirements, reduces by up to 10 times or more the number of shoes that must be examined manually because of metal alarm.
